Derek Blasberg is a fashion writer, editor and New York Times best-selling author. 

He was born in St. Louis, Missouri; after graduating as salutatorian of Affton High School’s class of 2000, he moved to New York City to attend New York University. He double majored with degrees in Dramatic Literature and Journalism, graduating in 2004, and immediately began his first job as an assistant at Vogue. 

Blasberg is currently the Editor at Large of Harper’s Bazaar, and the Editor at Large of V magazine and VMAN, the fashion titles from the art collective Visionaire. He is also the founder of, a website from the NowManifest and Fairchild media groups. 

In his career, Blasberg has contributed articles to a variety of publications, including numerous international editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, W, Womens Wear Daily, WSJ. Magazine, the New York Times, TeenVogue, the London Sunday Times, Elle, 10, and Another Magazine. From 2006 to 2010, Blasberg was the Editor at Large of, where he wrote a column called The Blasblog. From 2009 to 2012, he kept a column called Fast + Louche for Interview magazine. 

In April of 2010, Blasberg’s first book, “Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady”, a collection of humorous essays and illustrations about 21st century etiquette, was released by Penguin Publishing. In its second week, the book was certified a New York Times best seller; it has since been translated into several languages and published in countries in Asia, South America and Europe. In October of 2011, Blasberg released “Very Classy: Even More Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady,” which is an expanded, updated and revamped version of the original best seller. 

In 2008, Blasberg edited “Influence,” the fashion and art tome conceived by Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen. He has since contributed texts and written forwards to several other books and literary projects in the fashion and art spheres. He served as co-author to several of the New York City editions of the Louis Vuitton Travel Guides. 

As a fashion editor, Blasberg has collaborated with some of the industry’s most iconic image-makers, including Karl Lagerfeld, David Bailey, Terry Richardson and Marilyn Minter. Blasberg has also served as a consultant on creative projects for a long list of luxury fashion brands, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, H+M, Fendi, Carolina Herrera, MAC, Tiffany’s and Theyskens Theory. In 2011, Blasberg was featured alongside friend Alexa Chung on the competitive reality show, 24 Hour Catwalk; he has appeared as a fashion expert on The Today Show and the Nate Berkus Show; and in a series of short films with Harper’s Bazaar, he has interviewed such fashion luminaries as Marc Jacobs, Naomi Cambpell, Karlie Kloss, Lou Doillon and Carine Roitfeld. 

In 2012, Blasberg debuted a humorous fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice stationery collaboration with the retailer Opening Ceremony, called Derek Blasberg for Opening Ceremony. 

In 2013, he launched Derek Blasberg x Paperless Post, a collection of irreverent invitations and greetings, available as both e-vites and paper invitations. It was launched at a Hot Wings & Champagne party at New York’s Hogs & Heifers, and quickly became one of the online stationery retailer’s most popular designer collaborations. 

Blasberg is the founder and editor of, which documents his social observations, fashion reporting, best-dressed lists and international travels. 

Blasberg lives in New York City with his dog, a dachshund named Monster.
